What the heck, more pictures of the Superferry demonstration at Nawiliwili - I got a million of 'em

Actually, the running of the ferry doesn't violate the court's order. The Sierra Club's attorney claims it violates Hawaii law, but that's the subject of a future lawsuit, isn't it.

The surfers were explaining to they guy with the camera that the Coast Guard never explicitely threatened arrests but told surfers they were in violation of federal law. I don't know what law they were referring to.

The surfers were in violation of declared vessel security zones:

"By law, no unauthorised persons or vessels are allowed within the 91m security zone of the ferry; any violaters are subject to a fine of $32,500/violation, with additional violations bringing up to 10 years in jail."

The protesters should be aware of the risk they are taking by getting in the way of commercial vessel traffic. Eventually, this law will be enforced.
